Doctors

Rich Armstrong

DVM

Dr. Armstrong has been with us at the Animal Hospital of Hinesburg since 2000 and became an owning partner in 2010. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1995, he practiced in Virginia before moving with his wife Kristin, also a veterinarian, to Vermont – one of the best decisions they ever made. Rich has a special interest in laser surgery, wound therapy, and practice management. Rich and Kristin live in Hinesburg, where Rich enjoys activities like fishing and playing drums in a band. At home, 2 cats, 2 Golden Retrievers, and a former Bahamian street dog provide a constant reason (along with Rich’s cooking) to smile.

Patrick Leavey

DVM

Dr. Leavey moved to Vermont in 2000 and met his wife, Anna. After a temporary relocation to his native Massachusetts to attend veterinary school at Tufts University, they returned to Vermont in 2009 to raise a family in the state that they love. Pat joined us at AHH in 2014. Pat loves working with dogs and cats, but he also has an interest in working with exotic species, including reptiles, small mammals, and poultry. Pat’s interests lie in surgery, dental procedures, and ultrasounds. He and Anna live with their wonderful son and daughter as well as Fred, their black Lab, and Theodosia, their kitty. When not at the hospital he is usually having fun with his family and friends and playing music with his many assorted instruments.

Ellen Foster

DACVIM

Ellen Foster, DACVIM, is our internal medicine specialist. She splits her time between seeing general practice patients and seeing dogs and cats referred from other veterinarians for endoscopy, ultrasound, or advice on a difficult case. She graduated from veterinary school at the Ohio State University in 1982. She then spent 3 years at the Animal Medical Center in New York City completing her specialty training in internal medicine and neurology, after which she (thankfully) moved to Vermont.

Ellen has been at the Animal Hospital of Hinesburg since 2004. When not at work, she is an avid gardener and recently completed the Extension Master Gardener course through UVM. She lives with her husband Gary and 2 hulking sons, soon to leave home. She’s sad to say that Gary is allergic to cats, so she does not have 12. Her 2 dogs are the Brittany, Finnigan, who is a hooligan, and Lila, of unknown breed, who is the perfect southern bell.

Brianna Letaw

DVM

Dr. Bri, as she is affectionately called by our clients, came to The Animal Hospital of Hinesburg in 2017 from Naples, Florida. She has practiced small animal medicine in North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida since graduating from North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. In her free time, you can usually find Bri and her husband, Josh, enjoying the outdoors and soaking up everything Vermont has to offer. Bri enjoys boating, fishing, travelling, camping, hiking, and exercising. At home she is a four-legged mom to a senior Norwegian Elkhound named Gracie and two Tuxedo cats named Ellie and Finn. Bri and Josh will also be welcoming a two-legged child in Nov. 2018.

Karen DeMoy

DVM

We welcomed Dr. DeMoy into our practice in 2016. She graduated from the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She practiced mixed animal medicine for three years in central New York before moving back to Vermont in 2002, focusing on small animals. Karen lives in Orwell with her husband, Dave, a large animal veterinarian, a son, and two daughters. When not shuttling her children to their various activities, she also enjoys gardening, needlework, and is an avid reader of all topics. At home, Karen’s family is extended with a border collie mix named Moxi, a Havanese named Dottie, Melon the cat, a leopard gecko, a turtle, a guinea pig, and lots of chickens.

Matt Quinn

VMD

Dr. Matt Quinn is a native of Utica, New York and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Starting with HVA as a private contractor in 2006, he became a staff veterinarian in 2015. Matt’s clinical strengths lay in surgery, encompassing orthopedics, soft tissue, and dental surgery. He has been an asset in this regard at both Animal Hospital of Hinesburg and Bristol Animal Hospital. Matt’s love of motorcycles has taken him across the world, having gone on rides in Spain and France.

Kurt Kenney

DVM

Dr Kurt Kenney brings over 30 years of small animal surgical experience to the Animal Hospital of Hinesburg. Kurt became part of our team in 2004. A Midwesterner, he graduated from Iowa State University in 1983. He completed an internship and surgical residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Kurt sees surgical referrals from across the region and interests include orthopedics, soft tissue, and oncologic procedures. Kurt has incorporated surgical laser into every case for almost 20 years and enjoys seeing the amazing benefits to his patients. Kurt lives on Limping Dog Farm with his wife Sharron and when not in the OR you can usually find him on his bike.
